About Mena

Ximena Z Galdos A.K.A “Mena” is a Peruvian food blogger currently living in Stamford, CT. Mena started developing her cooking skills on an early age by helping her “Nonna” in the kitchen, when she turned 8 she started baking and pampering her family and friends with sweets and desserts.  After been abroad for a few years, Mena went back home and with her Nonna not been able to cook anymore, Mena took over the kitchen and kept every tradition going from Xmas dinners for family lunches, at age 16 she “cater” her first event for 50 guests at her Nonna’s 80’s birthday party.

At age 19 she moved to the US and started working in the restaurant industry in South Beach, FL.  She worked on almost every position in the restaurant industry, from hostess all the way to general manager. On 2010 she creates Mi Cocina Hoy, a food blog where she shares her recipes, but even though she wanted to, she wasn’t able to commit to it because her busy schedule.

On July 2013, Mena and her husband started a new adventure together, they left the sunshine state and moved to Stamford, CT. with this new chapter in herlife, she knew it was time for a new beginning, and to do what she likes, and thankfully for us, she did!

Ximena started to do her blog in English and Spanish since she likes to share her recipes with the world, but it wasn’t enough, she wanted more! She wanted for people to try her homemade cooking.

Mena noticed that, most of the people she met in her new town where from other cities or even other countries just like her and her husband, and that they missed that taste of a homemade meal, but they still were always on the go, and that’show she decided to create “Mena on the Go” a way for her to “bring you home” with her cooking, without taking time away from your busy schedule and specially without breaking the bank.
